When we quiet the chatter in our heads through music or meditation or recitation or song, the boundaries begin to disappear. The bowl breaks. For a moment we taste the truth, sweet as nectar—we are part of one another. Joy rushes in. Long after the moment passes, we can choose to remember the truth of our interconnectedness, that we belong to one another. We can choose to “see no stranger.”
- Valarie Kaur, See No Stranger: A Memoir & Manifesto of Revolutionary Love
As we begin our pilgrimage through the Lenten season, gather with us on Tuesday evenings for shared silence accompanied by readings from Valarie Kaur’s See No Stranger: A Memoir & Manifesto of Revolutionary Love. As we live into being, as Valarie says, in “a world in transition,” we’ll gather to learn and create sacred space, knowing that our communal spiritual practice is part of the foundation of how we are able to be people of wisdom, loving kindness and revolutionary love.
